the 1970s. Decade of my birth. I greeted the world on May 22, 1974, in Denville, New Jersey. Richard Nixon was on his way out. Elvis was playing Vegas. Disco was on its way. This is the backdrop with which to view these pictures, split between our rural Jersey homestead and the less bucolic scenery of Santa Clara, CA, where I ended up after my mom remarried.

Here I am, standing in the woods behind our home in Upper Greenwood Lake, New Jersey. The photo was probably taken by my maternal grandfather "Grandpopper," a commercial pilot/carpenter/photographer.
